A Tribute To Bob Dylan

The Return of "The Reticents" - performing the songs of Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young.

Featuring:Doug Hall, Bob Mellman, Mike Levine, Iris Schaffer, Zack Levine.

Bob Dylan has been a major figure in popular music for the past five decades and in order to honor his celebrated career "The Reticents" will be performing some of his greatest hits at OSPAC.

Bring a picnic, a nice bottle of wine, some lawn chairs or a blanket and listen to great music under the stars!!!


 

 

 

Broadway Comes Back to the Mountains

Kiss Me Kate performed by the Community Theater

Last Performance Sunday August 3rd. 8PM

"Kiss Me Kate" is a play within a play set in the late 1940's. Fred and Lilli, once married, are now starring in Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew:. This very funny story features a egocentric male lead, a Hollywood type movie star (with a shrewish temper), a nightclub chorine,her gambling boyfriend, two comic gangsters, and an ensemble of show biz types. The tuneful score includes "Another Openin' ", "Too Darn Hot",and "Wunderbar". The talented cast is comprised of young performers from West Orange and surrounding communities. The book was written by Samuel and Bella Spewack; music and lyrics are by Cole Porter. This OSPAC production is directed and choreographed by Gina Keyes and co-directed and costumed by Thomasina Hyland.


 

Freespace Dance

Dates : Friday and Saturday, August 8th and 9th

Performance starts at 8:00 p.m.

Runtime - 60 minutes

 

Freespace Dance is a contemporary modern dance company renowned for creating emotionally driven work in their athletic signature style. Comprised of seven exceptionally strong performers, this vibrant company uses controlled abandonment in pushing the limits of inventive partnering. Bodies fly through the air as Freespace Dance wows audiences worldwide. Donna Scro Gentile/Freespace Dance returns for a third season to the Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center on Friday August 8 and Saturday August 9th.
This year the company will perform signature works along with a new premier and a guest performance from the PGK Project (A Contemporary Dance Company) San Diego.

Jazz And Vocal Workshops

The week long OSPAC Jazz Festival Summer Workshop, now in its 6th year, offers students of all ages and abilities the opportunity to study with an internationally renown faculty of jazz musicians and to perform at The Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center which is located on 4 acres of a beautiful land in West Orange, NJ.

A Tribute to the Great American Composers

Date : Thursday, August 14th

Performance starts at 8:00 p.m.

With a great line up of performers taken right from OSPAC's Jazz Workshop this event will feature Mark Soskin, Harvie S., Vic Juris, Ralph LaLama, Kate Baker, Don Braden, Tim Horner, and Gregory Rivkin.

This concert will pay tribute to the composers from 1911 through the culture clash of the 1950s, such as Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, the Gershwin's, Harold Arlen, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Cole Porter and others. Please join the teachers of the Jazz Workshop in this performance.


6th Annual Jazz Festival

Dates: Saturday September 6th and Sunday September 7th.

Performances start at 12:00 p.m. and end 8 p.m.

The Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center (OSPAC) announces the Sixth Annual Jazz Festival.

For the sixth consecutive year, the Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center will present an entire weekend of world-class jazz entertainment in an open-air setting, complete with international food vendors, artisans and crafts, health spa center, and entertainment and activities for children.

"The OSPAC Jazz Festival has grown in six short years to be the most talked about jazz event in the area", said international renowned jazz singer and OSPAC's Executive Director, Kate Baker. "This years event will be more spectacular than ever.  Our line up of artists is an international mix of quintessential jazz stylists and modern and cultural jazz interpreters."

"What makes this venue special is not only the beautiful surroundings where you can stroll around the lake, but the superb sound that you can hear from every location", said guitarist, Vic Juris.

Tribute to the Beatles Fundraiser

Performance starts at 8:00 p.m.

Re-live the music, the magic and the mania with a Tribute to the Beatles. A world renowned recording artist will perform some of the Beatles greatest hits. A Tribute to the Beatles takes audiences on a magical mystery tour through the sounds of the most influential group of the 20th century.
